The Solution Architect candidate will be directly supporting the following:
Meets with customers to assist in defining their requirements
Explains the technology and standards of the Data Center (Cisco Devices, EMC Storage, Backup Solution (Symantec NetBackup, Tivioli Storage Manager, and EMC Networker), Windows 2003/2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle 10g/11g, SQL 2005/2007, IBM AIX, HP UX, etc.
Develops the high-level architecture design that the engineering team uses to engineer the solution.
Evaluates new technologies, assist in mapping new technology into the existing contract line item numbers (CLINs), and facilitates between the customer, the Data Center and 3rd party vendors
Working knowledge of a System Development Lifecycle methodology
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Author documentation that include design specifications, requirement traceability matrix, Visio diagrams, test and acceptance plans, and step-by-step implementation specifications.
Develop policies and procedures to address common issues found by Level 2 staff to avoid similar future issues.
Interact with other IT and project teams; may interact with external vendors including Hardware and Software vendors
Resolve technical and/or project issues (Level 3 incident analysis) and escalating when necessary.
Recommends, develops, integrates, administers, and evaluates policies, procedures, and standards needed to provide flexible and cost-effective IT services (specifically related to Web Services, Software Development Life Cycle, Technology Refreshment, Solution Architecture, and Technology Research and Collaboration)
Provides Subject Matter Expertise to the Chief Technology Officer
Solves IT business issues while managing IT costs and risks
Defines essential education and training required for the implementation operations, and maintenance of Department information technology.
Qualifications:
Operating System Experience: UNIX Systems (Linux, Solaris, Sun/OS, AIX, HP/UX,),Microsoft Windows Server 2003/20008
Architects require a skill set that includes both a strong business background and a core technical background, such as a degree in computer science or another technology-oriented discipline. However, an Architect is not (or should not be) the lead engineer or programmer.
Needs to be an effective communicator (skilled in both listening and speaking), a persuasive negotiator, and a customer-orientated individual.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
Ability to obtain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Suitability Clearance (Entrance on Duty (EOD)
DoD Secret or Top Secret is a plus
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification a plus
