Major NYC based mutli-strategy hedge Fund seeks talented individual to add to their growing Finance Team. This invidual must have direct hands-on Fund Accounting(Hedge Fund or Mutual Fund) experience and/or Public Accounting experience strongly preferred.

Assistant Controller/Senior Fund Accountant

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of the global corporate general ledgers, management reports and audit process

• Ensure accuracy, integrity, timeliness, and consistency of all transactions recorded into the general ledger system for all global entities

• Manage month-end close process

• Manage preparation and analysis of monthly financial package

• Develop and manage complex financial models

• Develop and monitor management company internal controls

• Liaise with internal resources and external auditors to complete global corporate audits

•             Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.

•             Must Have excellent working knowledge of complex Hedge investment instruments (i.e. Equity Swaps, Fixed Income Derivatives, Bank Debt, FX, CDS) caluculating NAV, P&L and daily trade/cash recs 

•             Processing requests for marketing packages while ensuring all compliance procedures are followed; Monitoring and maintaining the supply of marketing packages.

•             Document management of investor subscriptions, redemptions and transfers as well as manager subscriptions, redemptions, forms and statements.

•             Coordinating with Hedge Fund managers and internal Tax Department to facilitate and track tax reporting information such as K-1s, tax estimates and financials.

•             Processing investor transfer requests while coordinating with Internal Legal Counsel and following through on proper completion and approval of investor transfers.

•             Assisting with general accounting: preparation of Partnership Agreements, side pockets, water fall calculations and fund tax filings (1120 & 1065s)

•             Other responsibilities to include: tracking special distributions from managers, Corporate Action processing, maintaining fund databases, and assisting with various fund mailings.

Qualifications required:

• Min. 3+ years of related experience (Public Accounting - Auditing Hedge Funds, Hedge Fund Administrator, or other suitable Accounting Experience) with a strong understanding of alternative investments, financial statement prep.
• Prior working knowledge of Accounting software packages like  Advent Geneva, VPM, Aexeo, Excel and Quickbooks
•  Excellent communications skills; articulate, persuasive, tactful and extremely detail oriented. Candidate must have experience dealing with firms’ clients, custodians and prime brokers.
•  4 year degree from College or University  in Accounting or Finance(mandatory)
