Job Title: R&D Packaging Senior Engineer Job

Location: Barrington, IL, USA

Engineer in the Packaging Technical Services Group, part of Global R&D. Manage technical qualifications of changes to primary packaging items (bottles, closures, cans, etc.) used in the PepsiCo systems.


Raw material or supply change approvals

Capacity expansions initiatives

Non-marketing-driven item modifications

Specifications maintenance & documentation systems


Actively manage the technical qualification process for changes to component and finished good specifications for all packaging items



Includes PET and glass bottles, closures, cans, corrugate, etc.

Cross-functional project leadership

Packaging expertise (lab scale to full production).

Data review and statistical analysis

Planning and communication skills

Responsible for ensuring all packaging component specifications contain up-to-date information including approved raw materials, supply sites, and design

Contact to Global Procurement and suppliers on proposed primary packaging changes, providing subject matter expertise

Effective management of external resources to accomplish objectives

Maintain open communication and build strong relationships with multiple functions

Responsibilityfor performance standards for primary packaging items. Responsible for technical content updating and field validation of proposed changes.

Develop deep technical understanding of primary package items, production processes, and variables. Support quality troubleshooting and problem solving. Provide technical support for field issue resolution.

Build strong relationships with internal and external partners including Suppliers, Vendors, OEM's, Procurement and Quality


Qualifications:



BS in Packaging, Engineering or equivalent with 4+ years of experience

Masters in Business or Engineering a plus.

Previous experience in the technical qualification of package components

Effective leader in cross-functional project teams

Experience in manufacturing processes for beverage packaging

Experience managing external resources

Must be willing and able to travel 30% of the time
