Director, Tax

Challenging, interesting and complex international tax role for senior level tax specialist.

Our client, an energy trading firm is seeking to hire an experienced Tax Director to help support their growing international business. With a worldwide network of subsidiaries in a variety of established and emerging jurisdictions, the firm’s tax obligations - involving research, planning, structuring and optimization – are increasingly critical to the business

Reporting to the CFO, this senior level role requires a self-motivated, driven and talented Tax Director with international tax planning and structuring experience to lead a small team in a dynamic and growth business, with multi-million dollar tax exposures. Knowledge of the following are key:  Tax planning and structuring of new projects; Project / foreign subsidiary implementation; Withholding taxes; Foreign tax credits; VAT, import and customs duties; Domestic US state and federal tax; Tax advice with respect to commercial trading.

Responsible for building close relationships with the group’s management team, other business departments (trading, operations, finance, budgeting, projects), shareholder representatives and local tax consultants in foreign project locations, the successful candidate will possess excellent communicating skills and the ability to operate cross-culturally and cross-border.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree and professional qualification is strongly preferred. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in International Tax is key.
