Public Service Commission of Kenya Jobs

Pursuant to the provisions of sections 5, 6 and 7 of the Transition to Devolved Government
Act (No.1 of 2012) and the First Schedule thereto, the Public Service Commission invites applications from qualified persons from the public, private sector and civil society for the positions of Chairperson and eight (8) members of the Transition Authority.

Functions of the Authority:

The Authority shall facilitate and co-ordinate the transition to the devolved system of government as provided under Section 15 of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution and as detailed in Section 7(2) of the Transition to Devolved Government Act, 2012.

Vacancy for the Position of Chairperson of the Transition Authority


For appointment as Chairperson of the Transition Authority, a person should:
  • possess a masters degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • have had a distinguished career in a senior management position in the private OR public sector;
  • have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification professional experience; and
  • satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Vacancy for the Position of Member of the Transition Authority

For appointment as a Member of the Transition Authority, a person should:
  • possess a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • have had a distinguished career in their respective field;
  • have had at least ten (10) years post qualification professional experience; and
  • satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
A person shall not be qualified for appointment as Chairperson or Member of the Authority if the person:-
  • is a member of Parliament or County Assembly;
  • is a member of a governing body of a political party;
  • is an elected or nominated member of a local authority;
  • is a member of a Commission established under the Constitution;
  • is an undischarged bankrupt;
  • has been removed from office for contravening the Constitution or any other law; or
  • has, in the conduct of his affairs, not met any statutory obligations.
Interested applicants are requested to note that:
  • The Chairperson and Members of the Authority shall serve on a full time basis.
  • The Authority shall stand dissolved three (3) years after the first general elections under the Constitution or upon the full transition to county governments, whichever is earlier.
  • The salary and benefits for these positions shall be determined by the Salaries and
  • Remuneration Commission.
  • Applications may be made by:
(a) any qualified person; or
(b) any person, organization or group of persons proposing the nomination of any qualified person.
  • Names of all applicants and those shortlisted for each post shall be published in the Kenya Gazette, print media and on the Commission’s website www.publicservice.go.ke after the closure of the advert.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be required to submit additional information and will be subjected to a public interview process.
All applications should be submitted together with a detailed curriculum vitae, a copy of ID/Passport, copies of certificates, testimonials and any other relevant supporting documents.
